Includes minutes of the first AAUW Naperville organizational meetings, Fall 1955; AAUW model branch bylaws, Sept. 1955; correspondence from the AAUW national organization regarding forming a branch, 1955-1956; bylaws, Feb. 1956; member recruitment; officers’ list; first membership dues; original charter with seal , April 20, 1956; newsletters, 1956-1966 (partial); news articles; summary activities reports; photographs; programs. Of interest are materials documenting branch programs such as the May 1956, “Franco-American Relations Today” program with guest speaker Jean-Luis Mandereau, Consul General of France in Chicago; and the April 1966, speaker, Frank T.T. Sia, Consul General of the Republic of China in Chicago. Gwendolyn Brooks, poet laureate also addressed in the branch.
