5 Year Master Plan-A Shared Vision publication, 1989-1991

The papers within this collection span from 1975 to 1990, and cover a broad range of College events. Although most folder titles are self-explanatory, it is useful to explain a few topics in more detail.

The 5 Year Master Plan was a strategic proposal for improvements within the College beginning in the 1988-89 fiscal year (it was originally scheduled for initiation in 1987-88, but was not ready until 1988-89). This set of folders includes drafts of the plan, correspondence between administrative bodies and additional research used to develop the plan.

Official accreditation reviews by the North Central Association of College and Schools (NCA) occurred in 1980 and 1990. This set of folders includes correspondence with the NCA, self-study research, drafts and final reports, and information related to the evaluation visits by the NCA. The College had to request additional accreditation and changes in affiliation status with its adoption of the Weekend and Evening College and Masters in Computer Science, as reflected in this series.

Project Equality began in 1965 as “a nationwide interfaith program for equal employment opportunity: enabling religious, non-profit organizations, institutions and others to support equal opportunity employers.” The United Methodist Church (UMC) became involved to raise the levels of racial integration of the student body, the Board of Trustees, and the faculty and staff in Methodist-related institutions. These folders span from 1986 to 1989, and include correspondence between North Central and UMC, statistics of the racial and gender composition of the College, news clippings, and other information related to the project.
