NCC: Sports Information Director files
Scope and Contents
Sports represented in this collection include men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, and track and field as well as men’s baseball, football, and wrestling and women’s softball and volleyball. The files on each sport contain schedules, rosters, news clippings, statistics, programs, and sometimes records of game or meet results. The files may also include media guides produced by the Sports Information Director, which list the schedule, participants, last season’s statistics, and other information.
This collection also contains photographs from 1941 to 2002, although the bulk of photographs are from 1970 to 2002. They cover most College sports, including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. The majority of the photograph files consist of individual team member photographs, action shots from games or meets, and posed team photographs. Files titled “Face Shots” consist of posed individual team member photographs. Files titled “Action Shots” are photographs taken during meets and games. “Team Photos” are posed group photographs of the teams. Generally, men and women were separated in each sport but in some cases such as track and field, this was not possible resulting in shared folders of men and women. Each media type, i.e. prints, negatives, slides, and computer disks, have been separated for preservation reasons.

Processing Information
As the files were received from the Sports Information Director in no recognizable order, an alphabetical arrangement scheme was imposed. These files were transferred to the Archives in March 2003, with an addition in July 2003. Additional files transferred to the Archives in August 2005 were added to the collection. Additional files transferred to the Archives between 2016-2021 were also added to the collection, and the collection was re-organized at that time with the addition of photographs. These photographs were originally processed, arranged, and described in 2005, but they existed in a separate collection.
