Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials related to the 2012-2012 North Central College Presidential Search and the subsequent presidential transition. Specifically, there are printed copies of website pages related to the presidential search, informational handouts about the presidential search consulting firm, Witt/Kieffer, and materials used by the Presidential Search Committee. Transition team meeting agendas and notes, printed copies of related emails from the inbox of the team chair, and presidential transition articles from other institutions are also present.

The folder “Presidential Search Process Files, 2012” is restricted. Researchers must request permission to use it through the Archivist, who will forward requests to the President’s Cabinet for approval.

Biographical / Historical

A North Central College Presidential Search Committee with members from the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, and student representatives was established in early March 2012 nearly a month after President Hal Wilde announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2012 calendar year. A Transition Team first met in October 2012 before the selection of a new president. Rick Spencer, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at North Central College served as Chair of the Transition Team. This team was responsible for a smooth transition from Wilde’s presidency to the new president.

Processing Information

The Archives received the Presidential Search Committee materials from the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, who was supporting the Presidential Search Committee. The Archives received the Transition Team materials from the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty on behalf of Rick Spencer, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, who served as Chair of the Transition Team. Duplicate materials were removed.
