Biographical / Historical

In 1876, the Board of Trustees discontinued the Boarding Department of the College due to financial problems and lack of space for college organizations. Students were housed in private homes throughout Naperville and were encouraged to organize Boarding Clubs to lessen costs. These clubs, formed by students, appointed officers, bought provisions, hired cooks, and regulated member fees.
