Scope and Contents

This collection contains minutes of meetings of the Student Publications Board from December 1948 to May 1966. The files additionally include agendas, budgets outlining costs of the individual publications, and the Student Publications Board Constitution and its subsequent revisions. However, the majority of this collection is correspondence, specifically, carbon copies of applications for editorial positions with the publications.

Conditions Governing Access

Folder 11 contains documents with academic information, such as individual student grade point averages or course grades, and is unavailable for research. These documents have been photocopied and redacted, and the photocopies are placed in their appropriate chronological places.

Biographical / Historical

Organized in 1939, the Student Publications Board consisted of the editors and business managers of all campus publications (Chronicle, Spectrum, and The Cardinal) and two or three faculty advisors. The purpose of the board was to solve publication problems as well as ensure that publications stayed within the scholastic and ethical codes of the college.
