NCC: Commencement records

This collection contains programs and information relating to Commencement including: North Central College Commencement, affiliated institutions Commencement, Commencement addresses, Commencement concerts, Commencement week schedules, Baccalaureate, Class Day, invitations, news clippings, and Honors Convocations.

The North Central College Commencement programs and the Commencement programs from affiliated institutions (Academy, School of Commerce, and School of Music) contain the order of events for the ceremony, including musical selections, prayers, and orations, as well as the names and hometowns of the graduates. Students from affiliated institutions are occasionally included in the College Commencement programs. Beginning in 1963, scholarship and special award recipients are listed. Since 1970, short biographical summaries of the speakers and recipients of honorary degrees have been included.

Pamphlets containing reproductions of the Commencement and Baccalaureate addresses from 1949 to 1979 are included as well. An incomplete collection of Commencement Week schedules from 1871 to 1969 (often booklets) are included. The schedules provide a listing of events that take place during the week leading up to Commencement as well as a list of the graduates. News clippings about Commencement from the Naperville Sun and the Chronicle are also included.
