Scope and Contents

The Office of International Programs Records contains promotional materials including brochures with destinations for studying abroad and brochures to recruit those living outside the United States to study at North Central. There are also fliers and correspondence related to events and opportunities on campus. Newsletters created by the office under the name Global Dimensions, and created by students studying and improving their English skills. The correspondence and a copy of the initial Exchange Visitor Program, J-1 application with renewal and updates is part of this series, as well.

Biographical / Historical

North Central College established the Office of International Programs under leadership of English professor Jack Schindler in 1994. This office coordinated study abroad programs and recruited international students to North Central. Prior to the creation of this office, the position of foreign studies coordinator in the 1970s helped place a small number of students each year in study abroad programs. The Office of International Programs became the Center for Global Education in 2017.
