Running from 1896-2008, the Shimer College Board Meeting Minutes collection contains minutes from meetings of Shimer’s Board of Trustees, along with supplementary material. This collection spans across Shimer’s location on three different campuses, Mt. Carroll, Waukegan, and Chicago. The minutes contain discussions of these moves, as well as of Shimer’s shifting student demographics, from a coeducational seminary to a girls’ finishing school (1866) and back to coeducational when the Great Books program was adopted (1950). The Board of Trustees also dealt with contentious political issues within Shimer, such as Shimer President F.J. Mullin’s resignation from office amidst controversy surrounding his leadership in 1967.
