Wheaton Friends of the Prairie Path - News clippings, 1970-1973, n.d.
Scope and Contents
The fourth series focuses on the cities and villages through which the IPP travels. The bulk of the material relates to the Wheaton Friends of the Prairie Path group. This group promoted, raised funds for, and supported the construction and preservation of the IPP through Wheaton. The files contain minutes, mailings, correspondence, and news clippings. Additional files relating to Wheaton include protest of McDonald's parking too close to the Path, protection and development of the Lincoln Marsh natural area, and access along the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad line. The files pertain to specific issues with other towns, such as removing billboards at Route 83 in Villa Park, reuse of the Poplar Avenue station in Elmhurst, Native American burial mounds in Winfield, and an anti-litter ordinance in Glen Ellyn. In each file, relevant correspondence, news clippings, flyers, and newsletter articles can be found.
