Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The utility companies own the railroad right of way in perpetuity and, as such, are involved in many matters relating to the IPP. While files do exist for Northern Illinois Gas and Illinois Bell, the bulk of the files relate to Commonwealth Edison. This relationship has existed from the earliest days of the Path, with ComEd creating advertising to support the Path. The files reflect the changing nature of that relationship over the years. Legal agreements, correspondence, reports, news clippings, and advertisements are included. Specific issues regarding installation of high tension electric lines along portions of the Path and the vegetation management policies are also found here. Also included in this series are files on the DuPage Lake Michigan Water Pipeline. These files contain correspondence, news clippings, maps, and agreements regarding the DuPage County Water Commission using the IPP right of way in portions to build the pipeline bringing water from Lake Michigan to DuPage County, specifically under the Cook County section of the IPP.
