Negatives/Contact Sheets, 1950 - 2004
Scope and Contents
This series contains contact prints and 35mm and 120mm negative strips in both black and white and color, as well as a small number of color transparencies. The images include subjects ranging from: Homecoming, Athletics, faculty, student and staff face shots, dances, and many other campus life activities. The bulk of the series dates from 1988 to 1995, although some items date as early as the 1950s. Largely, the contact prints included in this series have matching negatives. The contact prints are in separate folders found behind the negatives. The exception to this is when the matching negatives required rehousing and are found in smaller boxes.
This series is arranged chronologically by school year and there under by various methods as originally organized by the office. In some years, a date code is written on the back of the contact sheet and the same number is used to identify the matching negative. In other years, the contact sheets simply have a single number on the back which corresponds to the negative. When neither method of identification is present, the Archives staff has assigned a single number (as indicated by “[ ]”) to both the contact sheets and the matching negatives.
All indexes included were created by the originating office. This series does contain some negatives for which no contact print exists.

Processing Information
These materials were received in three-ring binders from the Office of Marketing and Communications. These materials were combined with a box of previously transferred contact sheets and negatives to create a single series.
When the negatives were housed in archival-quality sleeves, archives staff did not remove them and these were placed in folders along with the contact prints in the document cases. When the negatives were not housed in archival-quality sleeves, the archives staff removed them and rehoused them into new negative folders and placed them in smaller boxes for additional stability.
