NCC: College Catalogs

This collection contains the College catalogs from 1861 through present. The catalogs consistently include course descriptions, graduation requirements, names of the administration, faculty, and Board of Trustees, tuition and fee schedules, and descriptions of the College facilities and student life.

From 1862-2017, the catalogs include lists of faculty members. From 1862-1960, the catalogs include lists of students organized by class. Often the hometown and the area of study or department is part of the student list. From 1892-93, 1898-99, 1901-1919 the catalogs include a list of alumni of the college course, organized by graduation date.

The frequency in which the catalog was printed varied. From 1862-1954, a catalog was printed annually. Beginning in 1898, the catalog includes a page called Announcements. The table of contents and the title page note that the catalog is for 1898-99. The announcements page is a calendar outlining registration, final exams, and commencement for the next year 1899-1900. This combination with the announcement page for the next school year continues until 1954. The announcement year is only listed on the container list when it appears on the cover of the catalog.

After 1954, when the College went to a biennial printing schedule, the catalogs are for the current academic year, but the announcements partially cover the next two academic years. This is outlined in the container list. In most of these years, a very short supplement was printed, largely defining alternating year class offerings and events not published in the announcements.

At the time of major changes to the curriculum, the catalog is occasionally printed annually again. Namely, from 1970-1980 and again from 1999-2005.
