NCC: Caroline Shoemaker Memorial Collection of Naperville pictures
Scope and Contents
This collection of approximately 4,000 color slides consists of images taken by Professor Robert Shoemaker from 1970 through 1989. These slides almost entirely feature Naperville, including various activities, buildings, seasons, and areas of the city. Examples include Last Fling parades, the Sesquicentennial celebration (1981), the 1978 blizzard, private homes, and street scenes.

Biographical / Historical
Professor Robert Shoemaker was a professor of history at North Central College from 1960 to 1979. Shoemaker was also an accomplished amateur photographer.

A separation of 13,000 slides featuring the city of Chicago was donated to the Chicago Historical Society at the same time of processing.
Processing Information
This collection was received from Professor Shoemaker in 1995 and named in honor of his late wife, Caroline. The collection’s numerical arrangement was designed by Professor Shoemaker. Subject access is possible via the donor-created index card file found in Box 3 of the collection. The original order was maintained when the Archives re-housed the slides into archival sleeves for proper storage and ease of use.
