Scope and Contents

This collection consists of stories clipped from a variety of news sources, including the Naperville Clarion, Naperville Sun, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, NCC Chronicle, and national denominational publications; however, the sources are not always identified. The news clippings are arranged to reflect the organization scheme of the College Archives, and include topics such as “Academic Programs,” “Academic Support Services,” “Buildings and Grounds,” “Community Involvement,” “Sports,” “Student Life,” and “Student Support Services.” Identified alumni and faculty are arranged alphabetically within the folders, while the remainder of the collection is in chronological order within each folder.

Starting with 2008 news clippings are arranged in chronological order. Some folders also indicate “sports” or “news.” Selected articles compiled by the Office of Communications are separated under the folder title “Media Highlights.”

Clippings not produced by North Central College are subject to copyright restrictions. Researchers should make arrangements to clear such restrictions on their own before reproducing or quoting extensively from these clippings.

Physical Description

The vast majority of the news clippings are loose, although occasionally there are pages that could not be taken apart due to a previous mounting technique. The condition of these clippings varies widely, due to differing age, paper quality, and amount of prior use.

Processing Information

The base collection of the College Archives had no inherent order. The Archives created this series out of the base collection in 1999. An additional accession from the Office of Communications was transferred between 2008-2018. Duplicates were removed in 2024.
