Scope and Contents

This collection contains illustrated flyers, invitations, newsletters, programs and booklets that Gamertsfelder Naumann created for North Central College and other local commercial clients. The pieces from North Central College were completed for the: Art Department, Music Department, Metropolitan Studies department, Modern Languages Department, homecoming, the Dames Club, the Student Union, and other entities on campus. Off-campus clients included: Ellsworth School, Fermilab, Community United Methodist Church, and others. Correspondence related to the Rall Call column for the 50 Year Clubs in NCC Now is included.

Biographical / Historical

Helen “Herbie” Gamertsfelder Naumann graduated from Naperville High School in 1942. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from North Central College in 1946. She worked for the North Central registrar’s office from 1962-1969 and was also an adjunct professor of art from 1971-1986. She married North Central Professor William Naumann in 1969. Active in alumni affairs and reunion planning for the Class of 1946, Gamertsfelder Naumann also coordinated the Rall Call column for the NCC Now publication upon her retirement.

Processing Information

Folders titles and organizational content of folders was retained from creator (Gamertsfelder Naumann) when apparent. Loose items or those files without titles were created by the processing archivist. Photographs were removed and placed in C92: General Photographs. Newsletters created for the art department were removed and placed with C159: Art Department Subject Files. Some of the North Central flyers may also be found within the organizational entity’s records that used them. Copies were also kept in this series to represent and allow for a study of Gamertsfelder Naumann’s artistic work.
